Activities associated with the job include ordering and issuing parts and supplies, knowledge and maintenance of the computer data base utilized for inventory control, opening, updating and closing work orders and preparing and issuing preventive maintenance schedules. Additional activities include checking work orders for required parts, maintaining accounts for vendors, ensuring that proper and adequate parts are maintained in inventory and preparing bids for large purchases. Job duties required considerable knowledge and experience in automobile repair and maintenance, inventory control and purchasing, sufficient strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job and strong interpersonal, organizational and decision making skills. Requires knowledge and expertise in automotive repair and maintenance, level of support provided for service center operations, accuracy and thoroughness of inventory reports and purchasing activities, ability to complete job assignments in a thorough and timely manner and organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills

Graduation from an accredited high school supplemented with additional training and education in auto mechanics; considerable experience in purchasing and inventory control activities; ability to organize and maintain large stocks of parts, materials and supplies in an organized and accessible manner; sufficient physical strength and agility to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job; strong organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills; or any equivalent combination of education and experience to provide the following critical knowledge, abilities and skills:

-Thorough knowledge of inventory control methods and practices utilized for automotive repair operations.

-Thorough knowledge of commonly utilized parts, supplies and materials utilized for automotive repair and maintenance.

-Thorough knowledge of computerized applications and data bases utilized for purchasing and inventory control activities.

-Possession of valid Tennessee Driver’s license and the ability to be insured at standard vehicle liability rates.

-Possession of ASE Certification in General Mechanics and special certifications as required.
