Position Summary

Responsible for the planning, designing, construction and maintenance activities for the Electric distribution system. Also, responsible for serving as a technical adviser on all Distribution projects.

Essential Job Functions

Review existing system and determine location, type and priority for system construction projects.

Award projects to consultant engineers.

Continuously review and evaluate engineer projects.

Act as a Technical Adviser to Project Coordinators.

Assist Project Coordinators with technical design.

Attends meetings with customers requiring GP&L services.

Decide appropriate methods of providing services and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Knowledge in Pole Attachment processes and procedures.

Design and manage small to large complex distribution projects.

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 Four-year Electrical Engineering college degree  Up to 1-2 years related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

Education/ Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on power system design
• 6-8 years experience in distribution design, construction or maintenance
• PE License preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Advanced skill in Microsoft Office
• Skill in short circuit analysis
• Skill in load flow, PLS-Cadd, Auto Cad and O-Calc
• Ability to read and generate One Line Diagram
• Ability to read and generate construction prints

Licenses & Certifications

Valid Class C Texas driver's license PE License preferred 

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a typical office environment; occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional outside work.
