Under the direction of the Lift Station Superintendent and working with the Lift Station staff, the Lift Station Supervisor supervises the Lift Station Technicians in managing the proper operation of Water Resources lift stations to ensure wastewater is continually pumped from customers to the treatment plants. Responsible for testing, maintaining and documenting lift station efficiency and for ensuring each station is properly monitored by SCADA and by daily inspections
 Performs supervisory and administrative work relating to the operation of Water Resources remote sewage lift stations, water booster pump stations, and odor control facilities. Direct reports include the Lift Station Technicians.
 
Ensure all lift stations are operating properly. (365 days/year, 24-hours per day).
 
Independently makes decisions regarding lift station daily operations and maintenance. Routinely briefs the Lift Station Superintendent and other lift station staff members on operability and maintenance issues associated with the stations. Develops and assigns Lift Station Technician daily inspection route schedules.
 
Inspects lift stations and water pumping stations to verify they are being maintained and are operating properly. Pull pump inspection plates and confirm pumps are being kept clean. Pull manhole covers and make sure wet wells are being kept clean. Ensure any debris which could be harmful to pumps or wet wells is removed in a timely manner by contractor. Ensure all lift stations and water pumping stations are being kept clean and that surrounding grounds are being maintained. Coordinate activities with the Water Resources Wastewater Collection System Superintendent on an as-needed basis.
 
Performs HR and administrative duties to create a strong ethics program within the lift station employees including but not limited to assisting in employee selection, job performance evaluation, discipline, and employee recognition. Performs supervisory payroll/timekeeper responsibilities in City payroll system for assigned employees.
 
Responsible for the safety, organization and cleanliness of all lift stations and water pumping stations. Follows all established safety rules and regs for Water Resources and the City.
 
Ensures both corrective and preventative maintenance is being performed on all pumps according to predetermined schedules by reviewing O&M manuals and submitting the necessary CMMS work orders. Works with the Lift Station Maintenance Supervisor to make sure maintenance is performed and that the records in the Water Resources CMMS is kept up-to-date and accurate. 
 
Compile daily pump run-time information collected by technicians. Prepare monthly run-time report and submit it to the Lift Station Superintendent.
 
Coordinates with the Grounds Maintenance Crew Chief on any landscaping or facility access issues associated with any stations.
 
Monitors odor control equipment at various lift stations and monitors odor control monitoring software for any issues on a daily basis. Ensures appropriate chemical feed dosages are applied to various pump stations for odor control purposes. Interacts with the public and citizens to investigate odor complaints and recommends corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints. Relays issues in a timely manner to the Lift Station Superintendent.
 
Ensure all testing equipment is routinely calibrated. Maintain calibration records.
 
Works with the Lift Station Superintendent to keep accurate asset records up to date in the Water Resources CMMS. Performs annual asset audit for all lift station and water pumping station assets.
 
Ensure wet well drawdown testing is conducted on each lift station in the system semi-annually. Maintain documentation in ESRI/GIS software application and coordinate this information with the Lift Station Superintendent.
 
Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Employee subject to recall to duty in cases of emergency.Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.
 
Technical school diploma in related field desired. 
 
Five years’ experience in working in lift station operations and maintenance.
 
Five years’ experience at increased responsibility levels in electrical and pump/motor systems repair and maintenance preferred.
 
Courses/classes or certifications in leadership training preferred.
 
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the minimum level of qualifications stated above.
 
Licenses and Certifications:
 
Valid Class C driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
 
Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.
 
Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.
 
Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate preferred.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 Ability to interrupt SCADA and telemetry to effectively monitor and control lift stations operations.
 
Ability to plan, supervise, and direct the work of subordinates.
 
Knowledge of applicable safety rules for equipment repair and maintenance.

 Knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and various water and wastewater equipment components.

 Knowledge of maintenance techniques and practices.
 
Basic mechanical skills in proper use of hand tools and other equipment to maintain and repair equipment.
 Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

 Ability to operate a personal computer.
 
Physical Requirements
 
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light to medium physical effort in sedentary to medium level activity with may require some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight to heavy weight. Duties require the ability to use a personal computer, operate a motor vehicle, and use various types of tools and equipment used in inspection and measurement of lift station equipment.
 
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are performed with frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions including weather, dust, debris, chemicals, and machinery involved in construction.This position is classified as safety-sensitive. Incumbent will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level III Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. 
Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level II Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. 
Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Level I Water/Wastewater Maintenance Technologist Certificate. 
Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Water Distribution System Operator License. 
Position qualifies for a 5% certification incentive based upon attainment of a Wastewater Collection System Operator License.

Maximum of 10% in certification incentive pay above grade 20.
