Title: Electric System Technician
Department: Power and Light
Status: Non-Exempt
Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to participate in the installation, maintenance, connection, and disconnection of electric meters. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient delivery of electric utilities to customers.
This position reports to the Director of Power and Light.
Essential Functions
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the reading of meters and recording of utilities consumption. Knowledge of the geography and street locations of the city as well as the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work. Skill in the use and care of assigned tools. Effective public relations, verbal and written communication skills. Skill in comprehending, understanding, and interpreting complex technical information. The ability to wear required protective devices such as masks, goggles, or gloves. Ability to read, interpret, analyze and take corrective action to resolve problems.
