Job Summary

The City of Fort Collins Recreation team is hiring a Technician I, Recreation who is adaptable and skilled in facility maintenance and clerical responsibilities. When the Sr. Supervisor, Facilities is absent, The Tech I will serve as the shift facility manager. This position will be responsible for managing and maintaining city recreation facilities, including equipment setup, facility upkeep, customer service, and ensuring participant safety. The position requires skills in maintenance, custodial practices, and strong interpersonal abilities. In addition, the Technician I provides clerical support to staff, including cash handling, registration processing, and customer service. The position will complete necessary forms for task completion, safety reports, and facility/equipment repairs as required.
The Technician I, Recreation will manage daily facility operations and serve as the primary contact for escalated issues. The role maintains a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays, and participates in on-call rotations as needed. Currently, the person filling this role can expect to work Fridays 11:30 AM - 9:30 PM, Saturdays and Sundays 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM and Mondays 6 AM - 4 PM. There is an expectation that this schedule will change in the future. A qualified candidate will have at least two years of related experience in recreation facility or clerical operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.

  • Performs skills associated with accepted maintenance and custodial practices including but not limited to working in recreation facilities.
  • May perform basic custodial duties throughout the facility as needed including laundry, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, trash collection, storage organization, kitchen prep/clean-up, and light snow removal as needed between Parks Department clearing efforts.
  • Completes forms for task completion, safety/incident reports, and facility/equipment repairs as needed.
  • Manages event setup and take down for events.
  • Manage daily facility and acts as first point of contact for issues that rise beyond hourly staff.
  • Provides direction and on-site supervision of hourly and contractual employees.
  • Responsible for adhering to, and being an example of, following proper safety rules and regulations.
  • Manages a flexible work schedule including hours of the day, weekends, holidays, and participates in on call rotation, if applicable.
  • May be responsible for set-up and tear-down needs of recreation programs, drop-in activities, and facility rentals while on duty.
  • Support other staff with clerical support functions, including cash handling, registration processing, and customer service.

Experience Requirements

  • Two years related experience in recreation facility operations, clerical operations, or closely related field.
