Summary:The Primrose Studio Facility Attendant is a part time (10-29 hrs/week) position with the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department. The Facility Attendant is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the Primrose Studio at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area as well as setting up and tending to events. The Primrose Studio is a meeting room with a large outdoor deck used primarily for meetings, small gatherings, and classes. It is Natural Areas goal that this facility will help connect people to nature. The Facility Attendant is required to reside at and occupy the City-owned residence located at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. Monthly rent is subsidized in exchange for caretaker and attendant responsibilities.
The Facility Attendant is responsible for assisting the Sr. Facility Operations Coordinator with site operations, locking and unlocking the Primrose Studio, setting up and turning over the studio for events, performing custodial duties, maintaining landscaping around the building, and troubleshooting other problems as they may arise. The employee is required to greet groups at the facility entrance to welcome them and to review the facility rules and procedures.
This is an hourly position with no benefits. The Facility Attendant works a minimum of 10 hours per week and usually no more than 29 hours per week. The employee is paid for standard City holidays. If the employee is required to work on a holiday, the employee is given another day off as a substitute; day to be determined by the employee’s supervisor.
The Natural Areas Sr. Facility Operations Coordinator trains and supervises the Primrose Studio Facility Attendant/Caretaker.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all inclusive.
- Assist Sr. Coordinator with receiving reservation inquiries, scheduling and booking events, and coordinating reservations.
- Opens and closes the gate at the Reservoir Ridge Natural Area parking lot for access to the studio parking lot.
- Welcomes and orients each group to the facility and explains the rules and procedures.
- Provides information to the public about the facility and the Natural Areas Department.
- Cleans restrooms, kitchen, and studio after each group has left the facility. This includes taking trash to dumpster, vacuuming, sweeping, wiping down counters, and ensuring that all dishes are washed and put back into the cupboards.
- Performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in various building and grounds maintenance. These activities can include small plumbing and minor building repairs; weed/grass control at the studio and parking lot; watering of new shrubs and other plantings; litter pickup; snow shoveling; snow plowing; mowing.
- Must be available by phone and within 20 minutes of facility to address emergency needs while groups are on site but need not be present on the site during the entire event.
- Sets-up and dismantles equipment throughout the facility.
- Maintains and operates audio/visual equipment and supplies, facilitates repairs, and maintains inventory.
- Performs some maintenance, repair, and landscaping duties at city-owned residence
- Is responsible for all the needs of rental clients while on duty.
- Monitors and secures the facility as needed.
- Shovels snow and maintains sidewalks and patio as needed.
Supervisor: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience: High School or general education degree (GED) preferred. Related customer service experience with outreach, reservations, building and grounds maintenance and custodial experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age.
Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Bilingual capabilities in Spanish and English desirable but not mandatory.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve and implement practical solutions to problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Foresee and initiate proactive measures to ensure program quality, customer service and facility integrity.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:- Current Colorado Driver's License
- CPR and First Aid Certifications required or ability to obtain certifications within 60 days of hire.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to sit, reach with hands and arms, carry, talk, hear, and traverse uneven surfaces and terrain. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, twist, push, and pull. The employee must have manual dexterity to operate tools and motorized and manual vehicles. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: The work environment is the Primrose Studio and Reservoir Ridge Natural Area. The Primrose Studio Facility Attendant works inside and outside. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand and walk and sit in and drive a vehicle. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions, sometimes severe in nature. The employee will be working on a natural area inhabited by a wide variety of wildlife including bugs, mice, and rattlesnakes.
