Description of Work:
Under supervision of the Librarian, this position performs work in providing services to the public, assisting the Librarians and cleaning the Library.
Essential Functions:
Assists at the circulation desk and assists patrons
Assists Librarians as directed
Cleans, shelves and organizes Library materials
Answers the phone and takes messages
Assists patrons using computers and equipment
Sets up for programs prior to events, resets after programs
Runs errands within the city
Promotes library events with handouts and e-mails
Non-Essential Functions:
Interacts with the public, volunteers, other employees, and supervisors in a polite, calm and professional; acts promptly to complete assigned tasks.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of Library organization, services, and procedures; skill in computer operation; ability to interact and provide service to patrons who may seek assistance; communicate effectively with so-workers, volunteers, the public, and supervisor(s). Ability to lift moderately heavy objects, move furniture, and climb an 8’ ladder.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed primarily indoors. Some outside seasonal work, trash removal, litter removal. Must have a current Nebraska driver’s license. Must be 16 years of age. Twenty (20) hours/week with shifts from 1-6 PM on Monday thru Wednesday and 2-7 PM on Thursday.
