DUTIES: Develops and oversees the implementation of cross-connection control policies and procedures per state and federal regulations, including America’s Water Infrastructure Act compliance. Conducts risk assessments, site inspections, and system audits to identify potential cross-connection hazards. Manages installing, testing and maintaining backflow prevention devices, ensuring adherence to fire hydrant basics for pressurized water systems. Coordinates flushing and bacteriological testing to maintain water quality. Leads the cross-connection control program, promoting awareness and compliance. Prepares and maintains records, reports, and documentation. Utilizes knowledge in math and chemistry for water quality analysis. Engages in AI for Management to improve operational efficiencies. Ensures compliance with the final lead and copper rule revisions and adheres to confined space entry protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS: Preparatory degree or experience in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Public Health, or a related field. At least two (2) years of experience in water quality, water distribution, or a closely related field, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or management role. Certified Backflow Prevention Device Tester or Cross-Connection Control Specialist certification is preferred. Proficient in GIS software and database tools for tracking and analysis. Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. A Commitment to public health and safety.
