Job Summary: Responsible for the planning, organizing and staffing of lifeguards and overall operations of the beach facility.
Rate:
Starting at $15.50-16.00 per hour
Schedule:
This is a part-time, seasonal position. Schedule may vary and may include evening, weekend and holiday work.
Requirements: Lifeguard positions are required to be proficient swimmers, be comfortable in open water, have physical endurance, perform heavy lifting, be proficient in First Aid/CPR, and proficient in water safety/lifeguarding skills. All pre-season training sessions are mandatory. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Pre-employment Testing
You will be contacted via email regarding the swim test dates, usually there will be two dates offered in May. Please make arrangements to attend one of these dates. These will be the only dates offered. This test will include swims, endurance runs, First Aid/CPR and lifesaving skills. If you have any concerns about your ability to pass, it would be in your best interest to attend the first date subsequently allowing yourself a second chance to complete any skills you didn’t adequately complete at the first test.
Upon successful completion of the pre employment testing you will be scheduled for an interview at the Dempster St. Beach Office. After the interview you will have a practical exam of your CPR for the Professional Rescuer skills. This interview will be conducted sometime between mid-April and June.
Attend and successfully complete all pre-employment training and tests.
All lifeguard based employee applicants will attend all preseason training and subsequently pass all of the testing during the training. This lifeguard academy for new applicants will be held.
