City of Eugene is Hiring a Spay & Neuter Clinic Temporary Staff Near Eugene, OR

The City of Eugene Spay and Neuter Clinic is looking to fill Part-time, Temporary positions for Front Desk Staff and Animal Assistant staff

The Spay and Neuter Clinic has been operating on behalf of the City of Eugene since 1979 and provides low cost spays, neuters, vaccinations and flea control products for cats and dogs. We believe that wellness care for dogs and cats should be available to every pet family regardless of their financial circumstances and our goal is to help your dog or cat stay healthy and happy by keeping costs as low as possible. 

The successful Front Desk candidate will primarily be responsible for performing a variety of receptionist duties including phone and counter assistance, scheduling, typing and/or data entry, word processing, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and surgical facility, and performing clinic opening & closing duties. 

The successful Animal Assistant candidate will primarily be responsible for assisting with a variety of tasks to support the veterinarians and the certified veterinary technicians in caring for animals brought to the clinic. They will also assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and surgical facility, and may assist the office staff as needed.

Candidates will be hired into one of two classifications, with the associated salary range:
  • Front Desk Staff (Clerk - General): $14.44 - $21.66 hourly 
  • Animal Assistant Tech* (Technician - Fully Skilled): $17.06 - $30.71 hourly
    • *Does not require a Veterinary Technician license 
Position Info: Part-time, Temporary positionsSchedule: Typically Mon-Thur, 7:00am - 4:00pm, schedule and hours to be coordinated with successful candidates based on programmatic need.  Location: This position works onsite at the Spay and Neuter Clinic, 3970 W. 1st Ave in Eugene.

This posting will be used to fill immediate needs as well as create a pool of qualified applicants to be contacted for availability as needs arise.

FRONT DESK STAFF 

DUTIES: This position will perform a variety of routine receptionist duties that may include phone and counter assistance, typing and/or data entry, word processing, filing, copying, collating, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and surgical facility, and performing clinic opening & closing duties. 

Some of the specific tasks this position may perform, include:
  • Preparing clinic for opening.
  • Checking messages.
  • Scheduling surgeries.
  • Performing surgery reminder calls.
  • Assisting with animals as needed.
  • Performing routine cleaning of the clinic.
  • Performing end-of-day closing duties.
  • Assisting with other tasks as needed.

ANIMAL ASSISTANT STAFF

DUTIES: The Animal Assistant will primarily be responsible for assisting with a variety of tasks to support the veterinarians and the certified veterinary technicians in caring for animals brought to the clinic. They will also assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the clinic and surgical facility, and may assist the office staff as needed.Some of the specific tasks this position may perform, include: 
  • Preparing clinic for opening.
  • Checking animals in for clinics and/or surgery.
  • Discharging animals from surgery.
  • Assisting the veterinarians and certified veterinarian technicians before, during, and after procedures.
  • Performing routine cleaning of the clinic.
  • Feeding animals.
  • Performing end-of-day closing duties.
  • Assisting with other tasks as needed.
FRONT DESK STAFF (Clerk - General)QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Prior experience in full scope of basic clerical support functions.  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a background check.
ANIMAL ASSISTANT STAFF (Technician - Fully Skilled)QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires journey level technical experience obtained through specialized trade school training (may include some college course work).  
  • Work is performed independently and requires independent judgement or interpretation of policies & procedures. May function as a lead worker for special projects.  
  • Must pass a background check.
Positions receive supervision and direction from the Veterinarian Clinic Manager, but may perform tasks independently; requires a degree of independent judgement.
