Lead Service Line Inspector

SUMMARY : Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering, collaborates with a cross functional team of staff to focus on inspecting existing water service lines and reporting the presence of Lead Services and other materials within the city of East Moline.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (which are not in any hierarchical order)
Community engagement with residents to schedule appointments, inspect, identify, and report the presence of lead service lines within the city.
Have the ability to effectively communicate with residents by phone, electronic means and in person in a positive, friendly and professional manner.
Have a valid drivers license and the ability to navigate to individual residences in the community.
Have the ability to take photographs, organize files, and accurately report inspections.
Have the ability to learn and identify basic plumbing materials.
Incumbents of this job will be required to enter homes, basements, crawl spaces in order to perform the inspections required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT : There is frequent need to sit and drive, there is some need to walk, stand, climb, bend, talk or hear, use hands to finger, lift up to and over 25 pounds and perform other similar actions during the course of the day.
The City of East Moline promotes a drug / alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : High School degree or equivalent.
