City of Durango is Hiring a Tennis Program Coordinator Near Durango, CO

This position is responsible for assisting the Recreation Supervisor(s) with adult and youth sports programs. Responsibilities include assisting in the organization, site/program/facility/staff oversight, league schedules, field maintenance, and other associated staffing needs.
*Specialty Instructor and Certified Instruction positions available depending on experience. The following duties are normal for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all– inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned. • Assist with administrative duties including but not limited to the organization of recreation programs/leagues, league scheduling, staff recruitment, oversight and training, marketing, and registration.
 • Assist in the maintenance of facilities used for leagues and programs such as athletic fields, softball diamonds, gyms, etc. General maintenance for these facilities such as lining athletic fields, stringing soccer/lacrosse nets, equipment maintenance, clean up, etc.
• League/program oversite/Site/program supervisor – May including stepping in to perform duties such as coach, scorekeeper, field crew, official, etc.
• Effectively handles a variety of customer situations and is responsible for maintaining excellent customer relations. Responds promptly to customer inquiries, handles, and resolves customer complaints in an appropriate manner. Maintains a positive relationship with user groups.
• Strong emphasis on safety.
• Assist in the development of promotional and marketing materials.
• Knowledge of the designated recreation software program including but not limited registration, facility rentals, league scheduling, inputting program information, game results, survey’s, etc.
• Monitor and keep track of program/league equipment.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
 • Possible purchasing under the oversight of supervisor.
City Organization Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Represent the Department and City to other staff and members of the public.
• Provide quality customer service to individuals needing assistance.
 
Supervisory Relationships: Works under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor - Programs. Incumbent is responsible for leading workers including assisting with scheduling, training, and evaluating.
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES 
Knowledge of: 
• Basic practices, methods, and materials used in recreation and sports programs and facilities.
• Best practices for leading, coaching, and training employees and participants.
• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Equipment and tools used in assigned work.
 • Procedures, policies, and operations within the area of assignment.
• City employee handbook policies and procedures. Skill in:
• Current methods and practices of coached and recreational programs.
• Operating computer and relevant software programs.
• Safely operating and maintaining all assigned tools, light equipment, and moderate to heavy power driven equipment including automobiles.
• Communicating clearly and concisely primarily in verbal form.
Ability to:
• Read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, etc.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Perform a variety of active work with periods of light and heavy physical activity.
• Work independently and provide feedback and updates to supervisors as needed or required.
• Operate and maintain normal office machines (copiers, scanner, computer, printer, fax, etc.)
Work Environment: 
Work environment includes an office setting as well as frequently working in both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. Work in or around water and slippery surfaces, duties require standing, walking, and active assistance with participants and spectators.
 
Physical and Mental Requirements/Activities: 
• This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of lifting/moving or force and occasional lift, move or drag 75 pounds or more while performing essential functions of the job.
• Work regularly requires the ability to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; balance, climb, stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and speak and hear.
Recreation Coordinator Programs
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. May spend a moderate amount of time viewing a computer screen.
• Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others in English.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, material safety data sheets, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
• Ability to recognize occupational hazards in work activities and take safety precautions.
• Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions and following directions.Minimum Education and Certification: 
High School Diploma – Some college preferred.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) year of progressively responsible related experience in recreation programs, coaching, instruction, or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties and responsibilities.
Certification: Upon employment, the incumbent is expected to attain and maintain First Aid/CPR/AED, as well as a valid Colorado Driver’s License.Nothing in this job description limits management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
