As a supervising member of our Engineering Department, this position will work closely with City Managers, regulating authorities, consultants, contractors, and residents to maintain existing utility infrastructure and develop new water, storm, sanitary, or natural gas utility projects that benefit our community. This Engineer position will likely be working on water distribution projects, including the lead service line replacement initiative, utility reviews for new developments, sanitary sewer collection projects, water treatment design, and natural gas distribution regulatory compliance. A background of planning, designing, and coordinating similar types of utility project construction is highly beneficial, along with excellent communication abilities, self-motivation, and team leadership skills. In addition to technical proficiency, we value candidates who demonstrate strong teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and initiative. This role requires good communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and fairly with coworkers, contractors, and the public is also important. SUMMARY/PURPOSETo perform and to supervise others who perform engineering work in the design, construction, and maintenance for a wide range of engineering projects including but not limited to, transportation road design, geotechnical engineering, building and other structures, and utility modeling & design.
1. Complete design and preparation of engineering plans, specification, and reports.Education & Experience Requirements
A. Bachelor's Degree with a major in an engineering field from an accredited college or university followed by four (4) years of full-time equivalent work experience in the field of engineering as an Engineer-In-Training working under the direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.
B. Eight (8) years of full-time work experience as a licensed Professional Engineer with at least two (2) years supervising complex engineering projects.
License Requirements
A. Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota or the ability to become licensed in the state of Minnesota within six (6) months from the date of appointment.
B. Possession of a valid Minnesota Driver's License or equivalent.
