Finance Manager Position Summary
The Finance Manager position is responsible for the strategic direction, planning and management of the financial operations of the City. This position performs highly technical accounting work in the areas of internal controls, financial reporting and budgeting. The Finance Manager manages the City’s accounts payable / accounts receivable and cash balancing functions; payroll reporting, cash management, debt programs and grant programs and activities. This position also assists and advises the City Administrator regarding fund investments, the development of annual budgets and the generation of various reports for review by the City Council.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or public administration with an emphasis in accounting, public finance or related degree. Three years of experience in government accounting operations, working with and or / supervising data processing operations. Demonstrated experience working with budgets, financial transactions and fund accounting processes. Candidates will be required to pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s degree in accounting, business administration or public administration with an emphasis in accounting, public finance or related degree. Certified as a Public Accountant. Experience working with a municipal government entity in a financial or accounting capacity. Experience working with Banyon or other similar fund accounting programs.
