Job Summary:

Works under supervision of Controller. Performs advanced accounting tasks, to include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining general ledger, assists in preparation of annual budget and assisting with audit preparations.

Examples of work performed: Preparation of monthly journal entries and post to general ledger; prepares monthly financial reports; monitors all accounting records, including accounts payable and receivable ledger; maintains depreciation schedules and capital asset inventory listings; maintains detail spreadsheets of major capital projects to track costs and determines amount to be capitalized; helps prepare annual report to TVA; Assists with annual audit preparations. Performs other accounting duties as required.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

Knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices

Knowledge of "Federal Power Commission Uniform Systems of Accounts"

Knowledge of capital assets and depreciation

Knowledge of Office 365 products including Excel and Word

Knowledge of Sage Accounting

Ability to apply basic accounting theory to actual practice

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers

Ability to work a flexible schedule due to system emergencies

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in accounting and a valid driver's license are required. Three years of related experience and some utility experience is preferred.

Essential Functions:

Work is performed in an office environment. Work requires moving about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; frequently communicating with other employees. Occasionally moves objects weighing up to ten (10) pounds. Subject to call-out during system emergencies.
