City of Columbia, MO is Hiring a Sign and Signals Technician - 955 Near Columbia, MO
The purpose of this job is to fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and repair traffic signs and markings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description
Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs signs per Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Performs proper traffic control signing and flagging in and around work areas.
Applies road symbols, pavement markings, and legends throughout the city.
Assists in monitoring and maintaining inventory.
Conducts snow removal as needed.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience - An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 to 3 years’ experience in signs and signals fabrication, installation, and maintenance.
Licenses or Certifications
International Municipal Signals Association (IMSA) Work Zone Safety Certification within 6 months of hire .
Valid driver’s license upon hire and Class B Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of hire.
Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
Knowledge of:
Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and relevant laws and regulations pertaining to traffic and work zones.
Safe and proper use of manual, electrical, gas, and hydraulic powered tools and equipment used in the assigned functional area.
Safety standards and precautions pertaining to maintenance and repair work.
Sign fabrication techniques.
Computers and relevant software including sign making software and printing equipment.
Skill in:
Working independently and with others.
Operating motorized equipment, , and hand/power tools.
Understanding verbal and written instructions.
Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
Applying active listening and asking questions for understanding.
Working from work orders, blueprints, plans, and sketches.
