Risk Supervisor - Occupational Health
Are you passionate about leading a healthcare team dedicated to delivering exceptional care to our City's employees? We invite you to explore the opportunity to join our Risk Management team within the Occupational Health Clinic. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the operational and administrative functions of both the Occupational Health and Physical Therapy Clinics. You'll serve as a vital link between our staff, healthcare providers, claim adjusters, City officials, and community partners. The Clinic specializes in providing care under Workers’ Compensation and providing post-offer and DOT physicals, as well as surveillance programs for Fire and Police. Your leadership and management expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the development and maintenance of occupational health programs that prioritize the well-being of our employees.

Essential Job Functions- the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
  • Supervise clerical and clinical staff, perform annual reviews and ongoing staff development with performance discussions, and coordinate assignments based on clinic activities and available resources
  • Coach and provide feedback to staff regularly
  • Manage daily operations and work schedules to ensure efficient, effective, and flexible clinic performance for the City of Colorado Springs Occupational Health Clinic
  • Manage clinic budgets and records; review clinic expenses and purchases
  • Maintain written policies, procedures, and programs for the Occupational Health Clinic
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, and recommend solutions by working closely with the Risk Manager
  • Work closely with our Medical Director to ensure quality and consistent care for all City employees
  • Oversee medical surveillance programs for both Civilian and Sworn City employees
  • Understand and comply with regulatory, procedural, policy, and licensing requirements for clinic services and staff
  • Health Record administrator duties for the electronic health record, PrognoCis; ensure accurate and meaningful data is presented and available to the organization
  • Ensure the protection of private health information
  • Work closely with Centers of Expertise and departments to support program development and maintenance of established program goals and policies
  • Supervise and oversee various programs (drug testing, medical surveillance testing, blood drives, etc.) for employees
  • Perform and manage medical records for federal and state reporting, frequent audit and other data requests
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate
Knowledge of:
  • Office management principles, practices, and procedures
  • Colorado worker's compensation laws, Centers for Disease Control guidelines, and Department of Transportation (DOT) drug screen regulations
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Institute for Occupational and Safety Health, Family Medical Leave Act, and Americans with Disability Act standards
  • Pertinent policies and procedures for a medical office
  • Electronic medical records systems and security
Ability to:
  • Practice excellent leadership, communication, customer service, and technical skills
  • Lead and participate in the development and administration of program goals, objectives, and procedures
  • Understand and learn electronic medical record systems
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; prepare clear and concise reports
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Clinic, the department, and across the City

Successful candidates will have

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Business Administration, Human Resources, Occupational Health, Nursing, Workplace Safety, or a related field
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field, including twoyears of administrator and/or supervisory experience
One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

Ideal candidates will also have

  • Experience working in the Occupational Health field
  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certified
  • AED (automated external defibrillator) certified
  • Proficient experience and knowledge working with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Additional Information

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
