Under general supervision of the WWTP Supervisor, the WWTP Lead Operator leads and participates in the operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment plants and collection system lift stations to protect public health and the environment, ensuring complete compliance with all applicable federal, state, and City regulations and goals.
Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and three (3) years of experience; or Associate's degree and two (2) years of experience. Texas Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement (required for internal promotion; external hire will be allowed 90 days from hire date to obtain). Class B Wastewater License from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Knowledge of standard practices, methods, tools, materials, and equipment of wastewater treatment activities (to include the use of light and heavy equipment). Knowledge of safety standards and precautions connected with wastewater treatment (to include the use and wear of personal protective equipment). Ability to provide on-call support and response to after hour emergency calls in a timely manner. Ability to work shifts, including holidays and weekends.
Preferred:
Previous experience in a Lead or Supervisory capacity, including scheduling.
