Under the direction of the Operations Supervisor, the Equipment Operator works as a member of a crew, operating a variety of construction equipment routinely used in maintenance projects in streets and drainage. The distinguishing factors of the latter, Equipment Operator II is the additional years of experience at the journeyman level, the CDL class, type(s) of equipment operated and the EO II may also serve as a lead worker.
** Current CDL holders are eligible for a $1,500 hire-on bonus.Required:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. State of Texas Class B CDL or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment, and maintain. Knowledge of the Texas Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD). Knowledge of safety practices and proceduresWillingness and availability for emergency response (subject) to 24-hour recall.
Equipment Operator II – additional requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D., two (2) years additional technical training in a field related to area of assignment, and two (2) years of experience related to area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. State of Texas Class A CDL or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment, and maintain.
Physical Requirements:
Continuous outdoor activity, frequent sitting, standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting upper body, climbing, exposure to extreme heat, cold, noise, mechanical hazards, fume/odor hazards, toxic waste/material hazards, occasional kneeling, crawling, carrying up to ninety (90) pounds, lifting up to ninety (90) pounds.

Hiring Ranges:
Equipment Operator I : $18.61 - $20.47
Equipment Operator II : $19.90 - $21.89
