Under close supervision this position is responsible for performing manual labor of a routine nature in the maintenance, repair, improvement and construction of the Shooting Range. This is a seasonal position with no benefits. 

**This position has been classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.**

Typical Duties:

• Maintains Range using various hand and power tools for mowing, weed cutting, picking up trash and dumping barrels. Operates tractors and other large equipment equipped with attachments such as mowers, fertilizer spreaders and loaders. Assists with minor repairs of Range machinery and equipment. Paints fences, out buildings, equipment and other Range improvements. Assists with the construction of new Range improvements. Cleans the Range’s restrooms. 
• Assists with minor repairs to range equipment and machinery.
• Attend safety classes as required.
• Operate and maintain the trap, skeet and sporting clay machines. 
• May be required to attend seminars and classes to improve range management skills. 
• Assists and participates in the execution of short and long-range plans. 
• Ensures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities and time. 
• Responsible for the collection and accounting of Range fees.

Minimum Qualifications:

• One (1) year experience in the operation and maintenance of lawn care equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would likely produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certificates:

• Valid driver’s license equivalent to a New Mexico Class D. 
• NRA Basic Range Safety Officer (within 6 months of employment)

• Moderately heavy work involving frequent standing, walking, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling and squatting. 
• Lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight. 
• Use repetitive hand movements, fine coordination and manual dexterity which permits the employee to operate hand and power tools and larger mowers, spreaders and loaders.
• Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing to permit the employee to discern verbal instructions, use a phone, radio, and communicate with others and drive and operate motorized vehicles. 
• Sufficient visual acuity which permits the employee to comprehend written work instructions.

• Work typically performed outdoors. 
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. 
• Occasional work beyond normal business hours. 
• Required to work on uneven surfaces, with airborne particles, potentially toxic and/or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures. 
• Use of safety shoes, glasses and other equipment is required.
• Position is subject to drug testing and regular driver’s license monitoring in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Clovis policies.
