This position may be filled as a Maintenance Worker II or Maintenance Worker III depending on qualifications.
The preferred hiring range for a Maintenance Worker II is between $18.38 - $18.90 Hourly. ($38,230.40 - $39,312.00 Annually).
The preferred hiring range for a Maintenance Worker III is between $19.66 - $22.25 Hourly. ($40,892.80 - $46,280 Annually).
Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. This is a full-time, non-exempt, position which provides excellent benefits including 13 paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City's retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities.
Maintenance Worker II performs routine semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments involving the use of common tools and operates equipment in connection with the semi-skilled tasks to which assigned; does related work as required.Maintenance Worker III primarily and most frequently the work done here is under general supervision, with related functional areas and more advanced applications.
Performs responsible semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, repair and maintenance assignments involving the use of specialized tools; occasionally operates specialized and other equipment in connection with the semi-skilled tasks to which assigned. Does related work as required.

Maintenance Worker IIIMinimum Qualifications:
Position may require employees to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Requires the ability to perform strenuous manual labor, often under unfavorable conditions, including considerable walking, lifting, stooping and carrying.
Positions in the Department of Utilities are subject to mandatory emergency and stand by call and with minimum response time requirements. Must be able to be contacted by phone in case of emergency and reside within 40 minutes response time to the City Yard located at 305 4th St NW.
Position is subject to federal DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations.
