City of Chandler is Hiring an Accounting Supervisor Near Chandler, AZ

The City of Chandler Management Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as an Accounting Supervisor. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. This position will work the following schedule: M-F 8/5. Once settled in with the team, there may be an opportunity to occasionally work remotely.

Who we are:
The City of Chandler Management Services Department consists of 71.625 full time equivalents (FTE) and includes Administration, Accounting, Budget, Purchasing, Central Supply, Tax and License, Utility Services, and Environmental Management. Within the Management Services Department, the Accounting Division consists of 17 FTE and is responsible for the day to day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial reports and providing timely financial information to the public, bondholder, grantors, auditors, City Council and City Management.

Who we are looking for:
We are looking to fill a vacancy in our Accounting Division of the Management Services Department that will serve as a supervisor in the Accounting Division. The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills while working with diverse employees, technical experience relating to capital assets, debt service, accounts receivable and managing cash and/or investments and be skilled in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers. We are looking for a new team member that will bring hard work, dedication, and attention to detail with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and innovate with the rest of the Management Services Team.

Desirable experience includes:
Experience developing a team of employees and promoting teamwork within the division and experience within a governmental organization preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field;
At least five (5) years’ experience in professional accounting, general ledger, and payroll work including at least two (2) years of previous supervisory experience; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desirable Qualifications:

Experience in a governmental entity;
Certified Public Accountant.

The position available is a full-time position and is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.

A register of qualified candidates will be active for four (4) months should another position become available.
