This position works within the Infrastructure Department and is under the direct supervision of the
Infrastructure Manager. They perform the daily activities as instructed to operate and maintain the City’s
Wastewater Treatment Plant as required and permitted by the Florida Department of Environmental
Protection Operations.

Duties:

• Supervises and directs the work of licensed distribution technicians and other members of the crew in

the installation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater lines.

• Obtains necessary materials and supplies for current jobs and places special orders for “hard-to-get”

or back-ordered materials and supplies.

• Records operational and maintenance details. Keeps accurate time and work records.
• Maintain & perform minor repairs/maintenance on pumps, piping, controls, utility wells & lift stations
• Ensures cleanliness and safety of facilities by maintaining the work area clean and organized.
• Completes performance evaluations for assigned crew.
• Required to work for extended periods of time during emergency situations.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of some comprehensive and other specific

water and wastewater transmission and distribution methods, operating rules, and the construction
and maintenance regulatory requirements.

• Considerable knowledge of the operations of trucks, trenchers, backhoes, TV and other equipment

used in this work.

• Ability to bend, stoop, climb, lift 60lbs, and work in adverse weather situations.

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED; or higher post-secondary degree
• 2 years of experience in underground utilities maintenance.

Professional Licenses:

• Valid Florida Driver’s License
• Must possess and maintain valid FWPCOA Collections Certificate and FDEP Distribution License.
