CITY OF BUNNELL is Hiring an Equipment Operator I Near Bunnell, FL

The City Commission desires candidates who are visionary, innovative and team oriented in their
approach, and able to employ a style that engenders mutual trust and openness with community
Partners and Stake holders.

This is semi-skilled work in operation of light construction, automotive, and mowing equipment. Work
is normally under close supervision except for the more routine repetitive assignments.
Duties:

  • Operates a dump truck, hauls sand, gravel, tools, or equipment.
  • Drives vehicles and operates pumping and spraying equipment.
  • Operates tractor mowers, spreaders, road tillers, and small rollers.
  • Operates small gasoline or other powered machinery such as cement mixers, air hammers and
compressors, pumping equipment and saws.
  • Washes, cleans, and performs routine on-site emergency maintenance to the vehicles and light
equipment.
  • Assists in routine construction and maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Performs daily pre and post equipment inspections.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance.
  • Continues with training on more complex equipment with Equipment Operators II and III.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Any other duties assigned

Skills/Qualifications: (Job Description available upon request)

  • Knowledge and skill in the operation, maintenance and use of light automotive equipment and small
motor driven tools.
  • Knowledge of traffic and other regulations governing the use of equipment throughout the area.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved in the safety precautions necessary in the operation
of equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret various documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance
instructions, procedure manuals, and related documentation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, climb, lift 60lbs, and work in adverse weather situations.
  • Ability to work extended hours during emergency situations, and on-call rotation.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School or GED equivalency or higher post-secondary degree
  • 1 year experience operating light to medium equipment.
Professional Licenses:
• Must possess and Florida Class E driver’s license
  • Must possess and maintain FDOT CDL class B, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date as

a condition of employment.

Pay: $15.91 - $20.69 per hour D.O.E.
