City of Bullhead City is Hiring a LIFEGUARD IN TRAINING Near Bullhead, AZ

The position may consist of working in the capacity as a Lifeguard performing duties associated with the City's Recreation Program. Position protects the life and well being of each person using the aquatic facility and practices preventative life guarding, be familiar with areas of concern, and minimize dangers. Public Relations is a major part of this position's responsibilities. This is a part time position with no guaranteed number of work hours and consists of a 29-hour work week maximum.
*Minimum age requirement is 15 years of age or older.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED required unless currently enrolled in an accredited school with six months experience in a recreational program or any combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position. Prefer experience associated with recreational activities, rules and regulations, and programs of the City's Recreation Program and dealing with all ages of the general public.
LICENSING & TRAINING:
Lifeguard positions are subject to additional specialized assessment skills testing. Candidates must possess or be able to obtain certification in American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and Lifeguard Training.
If you are not currently certified, you will be required to successfully complete the Recreation Division in-house Lifeguard Training Courses/Test:CURRENT LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION COURSES/TEST

Successful completion within two weeks from the date of hire.

*Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.
  • Maintains inventory supplies and equipment while conducting assigned programs and operate facilities.
  • Issues equipment and supplies to activity participants or groups.
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of recreation facilities and lifesaving equipment.
  • Maintain visual contact within "areas of responsibility", until properly relieved and take immediate action when in doubt of a patron's safety.
  • Take action or call appropriate supervisor's attention to any acts or procedures that might endanger or create disharmony among staff or patrons.
  • Secure all doors and gates to the pool area when staff is not on duty,
  • Assist in teaching "Learn to Swim Classes" as needed
  • Trash pick-up in and around pool facility, parks or any recreation facility when needed. 
  • Inspect facility daily; sweep and hose decks as needed; maintain clean bathhouse as needed; clean guard room; and daily test water balance as directed.
  • Makes announcements as needed over the P.A. System and contacts emergency personnel as necessary.
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Accurately and promptly fill out accident/incident reports.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Complies with and promotes safe practices in agreement with the safety rules and procedures set forth in the Loss Control Program.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Must be familiar with, practice, American Red Cross standards and have thorough knowledge of emergency action plans and have the ability to carry them out.
