City Of Brooklyn Park is Hiring an Ice Skating Instructor Near Brooklyn, MN
The award-winning Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks Department is looking for highly motivated, team-oriented and enthusiastic individuals who have a desire to make difference in Brooklyn Park by instructing skating. A Ice Skating Instructor is responsible for teaching skating skills in the Brooklyn Park Recreation and Parks programs and will work under the general supervision of the Community Activity Center (CAC) Facilities Coordinator. A Ice Skating Instructor is a member of the Recreation and Parks staff team that works together to develop innovative service delivery methods and programs focused on quality partnerships, service to our community and achieving successful results. Work with the CAC Coordinator to run an effective and efficient program
Start session on time
Interpret and apply skating principles
Maintain order and assure participants are following program plan
Report any incidents and assist with completing required reports
Education/Experience
16 years of age or older
Knowledge of and a thorough understanding of skating principles
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to interact with participants in a responsible and professional manner
Ability to maturely and appropriately respond to any emergency or incident that may arise
Ability to communicate effectively and respond with tact and courtesy
Ability to maintain order and security
Ability to effectively work with youth
Ability to make rational and appropriate decisions based on established policy and procedure
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to provide a level of customer service that meets or exceeds customer expectation and satisfaction
Ability to relate and work effectively with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds
Embrace and engage in cultural shift toward Continuous Improvement
Desired Qualifications
Previous skating instruction experience
Previous successful experience working with the public and providing customer service
Previous experience working with people from various cultural, socioeconomic, racial and ethnic backgrounds
Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Russian, Somali, Laotian or Vietnamese language(s)

Department/Division: Recreation and Parks Department Anticipated Work Schedule: This is a seasonal/temporary position that will work less than 20 hours per week; work shifts will primarily be evening and may include some weekend hours. Anticipated Hiring Wage: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
