City Of Brooklyn Park is Hiring a Remote Community Intervention Manager (FT) - Police Department

JOB
Oversee community intervention work and strategies, which addresses violence as a public health concern and other specified functions of the City of Brooklyn Park, and coordinate intervention efforts across the entire City. Provide leadership in establishing and maintaining community and intergovernmental relationships, communication with the media, and provide services necessary to addressing system-level issues that emerge. Work directly with Police staff to determine best outcomes for youth. This position will be responsible for mobilizing and leading a dynamic intervention team comprising of 7-9 members, encompassing intervention specialists, an analyst and outreach specialists. NOTE: This position is grant funded with permanent funding expected.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Staff Management - Establish work priorities and procedures which respond to community needs. Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and accountability of program functions and reporting. Ensure that program work is conducted in accordance within city requirements. Work with the Deputy Chief of Investigations to help set direction, provide leadership and lead business process improvement. Develop policies and procedures pertaining to the Division's functions. Contract with community groups who will provide intervention services to the City of Brooklyn Park.Meeting Coordination - Coordinate violence intervention efforts across the City of Brooklyn Park, and neighboring jurisdictions. Work with the management team in the development and subsequent communication of the department mission and vision, both internally and externally. Responsible for developing and delivering presentations to internal and external agencies, City committees, community organizations, and with the media, on key violence intervention efforts. This position will be heavily involved with internal and external coordination and collaboration with multiple government (schools, other cities, county, and possibly state) and non-government community organizations.Development of Programs - Lead the development of innovative strategies or modify existing programs based on community needs and best and/or emerging practices. Assist in the research, preparation, and submission of requests. Assess the need for new initiatives, adjust current strategies to meet the changing needs of City residents within available resources and assume administrative oversight of new initiatives as appropriate.Collaboration - Establish collaborative, effective, and professional relationships with all levels of representatives from other city departments, including the City and external agencies such as Hennepin County, City of Brooklyn Center, and the City of Minneapolis. Build collaborations and partnerships with the public and private sectors to seek funding and support for community health interests. Report to the Deputy Chief of Investigations and other directors on any issues or situations which would impact community members, other team members, or the Division. Provide leadership related to Public Health Emergency Preparedness planning, training, and response. Build relationships and partner with non-governmental organizations.Records Management - Oversee the preparation of grant applications to initiate or support innovative community-based programs. In addition, seek out funding partnerships for large scale Department initiatives. Oversee the development of program budgets and spending plans and monitor expenditures so that projects are completed on schedule and within budget limitations. Oversee the development of written and oral reports for policy makers and community members. Keep current with emerging public health findings and best practice approaches.Budget Oversight / Management - Responsible for preparing and managing the Division budget. Work with the Deputy Chief of Investigations, regarding contract compliance for the division, including contract negotiation, preparation, processing, implementation, monitoring, and reporting. Provide input to organizational public policy, legislative agendas related to the areas of responsibility, and general allocation of available funds. Perform proper budgeting of time and resources is central as both are scarce. Focus and service must be realigned as priorities change. The coordinator is responsible for planning projects by resources and is accountable for measuring results against budget or plan.
