POSITION SUMMARY: The Police Officer I position at the City of Branson serves as an entry-level P.O.S.T. certified law enforcement officer. Responsibilities include patrolling City streets, enforcing laws, and responding to emergency calls within an assigned district to uphold safety standards for citizens, visitors, and businesses. This role operates within a dynamic work environment, encompassing shift work, including weekends and holidays, to support the Department's continuous 24/7/365 operation. Additionally, the position may entail emergency call-ins. Reporting to a Police Sergeant, and indirectly to a Police Lieutenant, Assistant Police Chief, and Police Chief, the incumbent works under supervision to fulfill duties effectively.

WORK HOURS: This position will require shift work as it is necessary to have operations 24 hours a day/7 days a week

WORK LOCATION: In and around the City of Branson, Missouri; This position requires work to be performed onsite. 

SALARY: The starting hourly wage is $23.29 per hour and will increase to $24.227 per hour after 6 months of successful probation. Experienced lateral hires can earn between $55,244.00 - $60,768.00 annually depending on qualifications and experience.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of a Certified Law Enforcement Academy is required. 
• Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri P.O.S.T. Certificate as a condition of employment. 
o Candidates with certifications from other states will be allowed 30 days to receive P.O.S.T. Certification in the state of Missouri after the offer of employment is made. 
PREFERED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• Two (2) years of experience in a similar or larger sized agency is preferred and starting pay could be considered higher to reflect such experience. 
MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS
• Must be at least 21 years of age at the start of employment. 
• Vision must be correctable to 20/40 and pass the Ishihara color vision test and/or be able to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing red, green and amber
• Must possess no felony convictions at any time while employed by the City of Branson.
• Tattoos, Scarification, Body Art, and Body Modifications must meet City of Branson Employee Appearance at Work policy.
• Must be highly engaged in the department's goals and be able to work cooperatively with Police Department Leadership in achieving those goals.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license and be insurable under the City of Branson's motor vehicle coverage when operating a vehicle as a part of the position. 
• Must be able to pass drug and alcohol screenings, a background investigation, polygraph, psychological, and medical/physical examinations.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
