The City of Blue Ash is seeking applicants for the Head Lifeguard position at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. The Head Lifeguard position is under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Aquatics Managers. This position ensures that exceptional safety standards are maintained at all times to protect the patrons and staff of the aquatic facility. This involves having a high level of vigilance, enforcing safety rules, and providing leadership to the lifeguard staff. This is a Part-Time Seasonal position with typical employment from April to September.

Examples of Duties

• Demonstrate leadership and judgment, setting positive examples by being knowledgeable, encouraging, and committed.
• Supervise and support the lifeguard team during work shifts.
• Address, resolve, and report conflicts or issues within the lifeguard team.
• Inspect equipment, report equipment issues and assist with completing repairs in a timely manner.
• Monitor and assist with cleaning pool filtration systems.
• Manage and balance pool water quality; maintain accurate records of chemical readings and dosages.
• Supervise, assist and delegate opening and closing duties performed by the lifeguard team.
• Actively participate in staff trainings reviewing procedures, rules, and addressing concerns with the lifeguard team.
• Monitor patron activity in aquatic facility; enforce safety regulations and educate patrons on water safety and rules.
• Serve as the initial responder during emergencies, to ensure a prompt and effective response to incidents.
• Ensure safety by checking for hazardous conditions and making sure all safety equipment is properly placed and in proper working condition.
• Perform duties as a lifeguard on an as needed basis.
• Comfortably engage in physical labor and lift at least 50 pounds unassisted.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
