Job Summary: The Utilities Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, assigning and coordinating the day-to-day general, emergency, and preventative maintenance, construction and repairs to the City water and wastewater lines. The Utilities Supervisor also may operate heavy machinery and will provide direct supervision and guidance to employees assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Associates Degree
• At least six (6) years of experience in utility maintenance.
• A valid Class B commercial driver’s license.
• Class B Water or Type II Wastewater license

Preferred Qualifications

• Public Works Professional-Supervision certification

Essential Job Functions:

• Plans, coordinates, and supervises the Utilities Division and its related services, tasks, equipment, and projects.
  • Manages and supervises employees performing employees performing duties in the following tasks: water distribution, water line maintenance, wastewater collection, and/or sewer line maintenance, construction and/or repairs.
  • Plans and implements daily work schedules, training and safety programs, procedures and policies, work change and corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive and routine maintenance and quality control checks of City infrastructure, property equipment and vehicles.
• Assists in overseeing the division budgets to maximize expenditures and ensuring proper use of funding.
  • Estimates materials and equipment needed to complete work projects to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Prepares documentation such requisitions and purchase orders to provide written support.
  • Responsible for maintaining and keeping secure, and adequate inventory of parts and supplies.
• Collaborates and assists with other City Departments with City events, natural disasters and/or state of emergency situations.
• Ensure general housekeeping of worksites and division assigned City vehicles, equipment, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The employee must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull greater than 50 pounds, and may require infrequent lifting of greater than 100 pounds. This position is exposed to extreme elements including extreme heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, noise intensity level, moving mechanical parts/hazards, dirt/dust, and odors. Ability to work in confined spaces and trenches. Constant use of protective personnel equipment including but not limited to footwear, eyewear, and use of reflective clothing is required. Will work on-call rotation and in an emergency event.
