CITY OF AUBURN is Hiring a GIS Technician Near Auburn, WA

The City of Auburn Public Works Department is looking for a talented Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician to add to our team! In this position, you will perform technical work in the use of GIS software, hardware, databases, and other related systems and applications needed to collect, input, maintain, and retrieve information.
In this role you will:
  • Design and produce production quality maps and reports.
  • Maintain knowledge of GIS principles, practices, and proficiencies; maintains a basic knowledge and understanding of current civil engineering and design principles, theories, practices, and techniques.
  • Review and interpret plans and AutoCAD data to extract as-built infrastructure information.
  • Conduct efficient and accurate field data collection utilizing GIS tools and mobile technologies, ensuring the collection of reliable spatial information for mapping, analysis, and decision-making purposes.

  • Two (2) years of college-level course work in GIS or a related field.
AND
  • One (1) year of successful work experience using GIS and other related software
OR
  • a combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the above essential functions for the position.

NOTE: Additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Possess and retain a valid state driver’s license without impending loss at time of appointment.
