CITY OF AUBURN is Hiring an Equity & Engagement Program Assistant Near Auburn, WA

The expected duration of this position is 4-6 months.

If your answer is yes, this role as the Equity & Engagement Program Assistantmay be the perfect opportunity for you!The City of Auburn Office of Equity department is looking for an Equity & Engagement Program Assistant to join our team. This is a small but passionate team of two that you can be a part of by growing, creating and grounding racial equity work with the City. Take a look at this page to learn more.  As an Equity & Engagement Program Assistant, you will work to coordinate the Office of Equity's events, programs, as well as develop, organize, and provide support to initiatives, projects, and events in support of the City's community engagement activities.  You will work with the Office of Equity Director to identify needs and develop inclusive programs in support of the City’s diverse communities while conducting interviews, gathering data, and researching information for written communications. During this temporary assignment, you will attend and/or participate in various professional staff and community meetings.  To be eligible for this opportunity, you must: 
  • Attend the job regularly and in a timely manner. 
  • Attend daytime, evening, and weekend meetings and events as required in the performance of job duties. 
  • Possess effective communication skills and engage with the public, public officials, organizations, supervisors, and other employees, both in person and over the telephone, assisting them with a wide variety of information pertaining to City and department. 
  • Perform effectively under pressure and with frequent interruptions. 
  • Complete work and projects in a thorough and timely manner. 
  • Show initiative in performing job functions. 
  • Understand and follow directions from the supervisor, posted work rules, and procedures. 
  • Perform related work as required. 
 
Note: Due to internal and external customer service needs, the incumbent must be able to work a full-time schedule, onsite (appropriate City worksites).We are looking for candidates who have a: 
  • Bachelor's degree in a humanity or a social science major. 
AND
  • one (1) year of successful work experience in program management or a related field. 

  • Possess sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point). 

Licenses/Certification Required

  • Valid state driver’s license, without impending loss at time of appointment.
