Economic Development Director – Mayor’s Office

Salary Range: $84,175.47 - $113,124.80

The City of Attleboro seeks an Economic Development Director, under the general supervision of the Mayor’s office and working in conjunction with city, state, and federal officials and agencies, to represent the City’s interest in all matters pertaining to economic development.

The applicant must have experience in identifying community needs in the area of economic development and promoting the City’s capacity to fill such needs. Must be able to initiate economic development planning, identify funding sources, apply for grants and administer grant funded activities. Coordinates economic development projects with municipal planning and community development staff and appropriate appointed commissions. Provides assistance to the Mayor, Municipal Council, department heads and other officials with respect to economic development issues. Performs other related work as required.

A bachelors’ degree is preferred in public administration, urban planning, or related field, demonstrated project management experience and knowledge of federal and state statues regarding economic development or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as have the ability to speak in a public setting. Ability to plan, administer, direct and coordinate varied programs and functions of municipal economic development. Ability to participate in complex technical research to economic development. Knowledge of business retention and attraction practices including downtown revitalization projects.
