JOB
The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Locator to join our Engineering & Utilities Department. The Locator identifies and marks City of Aiken underground utilities by referencing utility prints and using specific locating equipment, using required spray paint, and flags as required by SC 811.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Reads and understands utility maps, prints, and aerial imagery to assist in identification of underground utilitiesOperate handheld detection equipment in the designed mannerPeriodically removes and replaces manhole lids, weighing 25-100 pounds, using a manhole toolDrives extensively and gets in and out of vehicles repeatedly; walks several miles per dayResponds to after-hours calls and emergencies when neededHelp crews as needed in the completion of projectsPerforms other related duties as required
