Position Information

Groundskeeping Supervisor I (FI-03)
$4,684 monthly
This position supervises and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of grounds in parks, playgrounds or other areas surrounding public buildings and facilities.
Come work in a positive, healthy outdoor environment as a Groundskeeping Supervisor I with the City and County of Honolulu, Parks and Recreation, Park Maintenance and Recreation Services Division, located at Kaka'ako Regional Park.
Under general supervision of the Park Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, this position supervises the maintenance staff and upkeeps grounds and facilities. Work includes but is not limited to:
  • Supervising, planning assignments, directing the work of small equipment operators and grounds keepers in the care and maintenance of parks and playgrounds; overseeing work of the weekend crew.
  • Traveling to conduct inspections of all assigned areas for adequacy of work, planning and scheduling work, and determining the need for repairs and improvements.
  • Operating pick-up truck, trailer and utility vehicles to check park grounds and maintenance staff.
Special Work Requirements: Required to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Will serve as a Disaster Response worker during declared emergencies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in the care and maintenance of grounds and landscaped areas.

Desirable Experience: Previous experience in supervising the work of others (e.g., planning, assigning, scheduling, and overseeing the work of subordinates; training subordinates on proper work practices and procedures; etc.).
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a valid driver's license (automobile/Type 3), prior to appointment.
