The Emergency Programs Division is hiring a Grants Coordinator to join our team! The desired applicant is detail oriented, organized, self-motivated and values quality work. Our shared values include Trust, Communication, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, Teamwork and Accountability.

We are looking for someone with a strong accounting background, the ability to coordinate complex projects between multiple departments and agencies, is open minded, and good at working with the general public and non-profit organizations alike to coordinate committees and working groups while work through difficult situations.

As part of the CBJ Programs Division you will become a leader in regional emergency management. We serve as the coordinating agency between local, state, and federal agencies, to support disaster response not only in Juneau, but to assist region wide in Planning, Training, and Exercises as well as Mitigation Programs to make communities more resilient. This could be anything from a grant purchase to support an agency, all the way up to coordinating exercises with multiple communities and non-profit partners to prepare for real world events.

Under the long-range administrative direction/collaboration of the Emergency Programs Manager you will provide administrative and grant management support.

This position coordinates and oversees grant purchasing and project management. You will also assist with gathering information and completion of diverse emergency response plans as requested by the manager and required by FEMA. This position works closely with the public and nonprofit partners and addresses public inquiries regularly.

You will be providing Local Emergency Planning Committee support, maintaining administrative files, processing purchase orders, scheduling regional meetings, and managing large complex grant projects between multiple departments and often outside agencies as well as serving as the Division Travel Officer. You will also be developing and publishing meeting packets through CBJ Municode.

Due to FEMA requirements this position needs to not only understand CBJ purchasing codes but must also integrate those with FEMA and SOA Standards to insure reimbursements. This position will also require you to stay up to speed on FEMA National Incident Management (NIMS) Policies and Procedures.

You will be assisting the Emergency Manager in maintaining the readiness of the City Emergency Operations Center and in the event of an emergency, the incumbent provides administrative support and record keeping activities of the CBJ Emergency Operations Center.

You will be providing quarterly financial and narrative reports for a stream of grants to be updated regularly. You will also be assisting in the department budgeting process and maintaining all purchasing records needed for local, state, and federal level reporting.

This position works Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Your office would be located in downtown Juneau in City Hall.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent.

Experience: Two (2) years of paraprofessional experience in emergency management, grant administration, finance, or administration.

Substitutions: An associate degree from an accredited college in emergency management or homeland security can substitute for the required experience.

Certification/License: Valid driver's license at the time of hire and for continued employment:

Within the first 12 months this position is also required to complete FEMA ICS Courses in the Professional Development Series included but not limited to ICS 100, 120, 200, 230, 235, 240, 241, 242, 244, 700, and 800.
