Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
* Effectively assesses, collects, and critiques health related-data and identifies priority health issues per the assigned grant(s) or project(s).
* In accordance with Section 101 of the Human Resource Manual advocates for Alaska Native/American Indian hiring preference, works with Alaska Native/American Indian employees on career development, and creates mentorship or developmental opportunities for Alaska Native/American Indian employees.
* Administers (i.e., exercise organization leadership, secure fiscal resources, manage human resources and obtain program acceptance and support) health education strategies, interventions, and programs per the approved work plan(s).
* Recruits participants and collects participant questionnaire data as applicable.
* Communicates and advocates for health and health education per the approved grant work plan(s); applies a variety of communication methods and techniques, and SEARHC resources to promote health in the targeted communities proposed by the grants or projects.
* Maintains regular communication with Dental practitioners and clinic staff to ensure study activities are being conducted properly and on time.
* Ensures appropriate follow up of patient participants.
* Tracks and reports budget items for multiple grant budgets per the grantor's requirements and SEARHC's financial system.
* Other duties as assigned.
Additional Details:
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
* Bachelor's degree in health education, Health Promotion, Public Health, School Health, Health Sciences or in a related field from an accredited school OR three years' experience in Health Care.
* Public policy, advanced health education strategy(s) and program planning/management training - preferred
Experience Required
* 3 years of progressively responsible health care coordination experience
* Dental Experience Preferred
Knowledge of
* Knowledge of grant responsibilities and IRB standards.
* Basic knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
* Knowledge of public relations concepts and theories to obtain health promotion program support.
* Knowledge of implementation strategies for research studies.
Skills in
* Skills in administrative support in regard to day-to-day grant coordination.
* Skills in assessing the merits and limitations of qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.
* Skills in developing a logical scope and sequence plan for health education practice.
Ability to
* Ability to apply sound leadership principles to human resources and facilitate staff development.
* Ability to influence health policy to promote health both within and outside the SEARHC organization.
* Ability to promote the health education individually and collectively
* Ability to travel to remote locations on occasion.
