USPB Risk CAO organization provides a global focus for risk management strategy/execution oversight for compliance with Citi Policies and Regulatory requirements, and driving Strong Risk Management - for USPB Risk, Wealth Risk and Legacy Franchises/Banking & International Retail Risk Management. The Wealth Risk Reporting Director role and function is responsible for global and independent risk reporting for Wealth CRO organization and other key enterprise level wealth risk reporting to Citi CRO, Board and Regulators. This is a critical leadership role, responsible for providing time and quality insights and information compliant with BCBS 239 and other applicable regulations and Citi policies governing risk aggregations and reporting, and supporting department objectives related to risk digitization, reporting/analytics talent development, BCBS239 controls, strategic data sourcing, client engagement, and related path to strong and consent order transformation programs. The role will report directly to USPB Risk CAO and will be an integral member of that leadership

The Director of the Wealth Risk Reporting team is a senior management level position responsible for managing all aspects of reporting department including engagement with stakeholders, management of staff and partnership with delivery/execution peers.

This highly visible Director role is a senior management position that will work closely with peers within USPB Risk CAO organization and Wealth CRO, 1st & 2nd lines of defense (LOD) senior risk managers, Wealth Business Development and Product Heads and specialized subject matter experts (SMEs) in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR), and Retail Credit Risk Management (RCR) and related Technology partners throughout Citi.

This role requires a senior risk/tech manager and reporting expert well versed in reporting & client/risk aggregation needs unique to private banking and wealth management, and with a proven track record to lead and deliver complex wealth bank within a bank" reporting needs - with multiple retail, wholesale, counterparty, fiduciary and investment products risk requirements, and enterprise wide dependences for receipt and use of timely and quality inputs, compliant with BCBS 239. This role will interact directly with Wealth CROs and their management team, as well as reporting teams and key risk managers covering WCR, CCR and RCR. Excellent communication skills are required in order to negotiate and interact with senior Risk leadership and partner effectively with other reporting/tech/data leads for delivering seamless and aligned transformation of Wealth risk reporting to overall strong risk management target state while supporting quality day to day BAU execution.

The role will manage senior reporting team of 6 direct staff in US, and partner with technology/data/analytics peers within USPB Risk CAO, and leverage USPB Risk CAO India shared services team to deliver BAU risk reports, meet new reporting needs and innovate/digitize risk reporting for transformation to defined strong risk management target state. The reporting director and his team will partners closely with Wealth CRO and key risk managers in 1st and 2nd lines of defense to re/design and operationalize delivery of required management information, leveraging systems of record and authorized data sources through new self-service analytics capabilities and automation tools.

In addition to strong analytics and (BI) business intelligence skills, this role requires a deep understanding of information and insights critical for governance and monitoring of quantity and quality of risk management of private bank/wealth management exposures and assets - across full life cycle and including adherence to capital based stress loss limits, other risk appetite guardrails and performance benchmarks, recession readiness playbooks and for overall assessment of state of risk.

Responsibilities:
  • Timely, quality and compliant risk reporting
  • Reporting rationalization and redesign to meet, leverage and align with path to strong transformation in progress - including revision of reports to adopt new/changing risk taxonomies and aggregation requirements, new systems of record and authorized data sources and new reporting/oversight infrastructure and BI/analytics tools, to deliver updated and new risk aggregations that meet changing organizational needs and regulatory/policy requirements.
  • Work in close partnership with USPB Risk CAO peers, Risk Policy/Process owners and stakeholders across first and second line of defense to rationalize, simplify and digitize risk reporting.
  • Drive cross training within reporting team and with key groups in USPB Risk CAO function and especially India based shared services teams, to expand bench strength and capacity for specialized risk reporting & reporting digitization.
  • Design, coordinate and prepare executive materials Wealth CRO and management team's senior presentations to the Board, risk committees, and regulators; including any ad hoc materials.
  • Design, prepare, analyze and distribute global/cluster wealth risk reports that are insightful, comprehensive, and enable Independent Risk Management to monitor risk around the globe, reviewing business results and challenging business risk strategies.
  • Partner with Independent Risk Management and In-Business/Country Risk Management to address new risk monitoring or regulatory requirements
  • Lead strategic initiatives to drive common & concurrent use of gold source reports" by 1st & 2nd line, and deliver faster time to insights through well designed CRO/SCO/Risk Director/Risk Manager/Risk Analyst persona based reporting/UX as new reporting infrastructure/oversight platforms are adopted.
  • Enhance and streamline management reporting processes by adopting best-in-class modern intelligence tools and improving data quality in partnership with stakeholders in risk management, technology and business teams.
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS degrees in business, finance, economics, computer science or other analytically intensive discipline
  • 15-20 years of experience in financial services, with at least 10 years of people management experience
  • Deep understanding of consumer credit risk and related data
  • Deep understanding of risk management framework and practices applicable to wealth management - including RDIP, WCR, CCR and RCR and analytics & MIS required for management of wealth product programs and unique client aggregation needs.
  • Design Thinking and Agile Product Development experience - a plus
  • Ability to synthesize complex data/analytics into succinct and effective presentations
  • Prior leadership in risk analytics, reporting/BI and data preferred
  • Track record of delivering complex projects related to data, aggregation and reporting
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a dynamic, high-volume and complex environment with a practical solutions-driven approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of engagement with senior leadership teams
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make key, timely decisions
  • Strong interpersonal skills including influencing, facilitation, and partnering skills, able to leverage relationships and work collaboratively across an organization
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
  • Comfortable acting as an agent for positive change with agility and flexibility.
  • Strong governance skills with prior leadership in managing global teams/projects and leading re-engineering of risk processes and systems - with complex data, regulatory risk, client aggregation and reporting needs.
