Wardrobe and Make-Up - Blue Man Group Chicago

Part-time position

Part-Time Wardrobe Technicians are responsible fora variety of duties within the Wardrobe & Makeup department. Wardrobe team members provide regular show and rehearsal coverage on and may also be scheduled for work calls as needed. Team members demonstratestrong communication and theatrical wardrobe skills, effective oral and written communication skillsand interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team environment, diverse work populations and establisheddeadlines is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

Responsible for executing show cues;
Performing preset duties as well as turnover and post show duties including laundry, cleaning and maintaining dressing rooms and wardrobe areas;
Maintenance of equipment and work calls as needed;
Comfortable working in intimate dressing room setting while maintaining a strict atmosphere of professionalism and safety;
Assisting performers with makeup application and costume pieces;
Research and develop on an as needs basis;
Administrative organization on an as needs basis;
Clear communication of show notes amongst the Stage Manager on duty and Production Manager;
All other work-related duties as assigned;

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. You must have prior wardrobe experience with a live theatrical production;
You must have working knowledge of make up and make up application;
You must have a steady hand and fine motor skills;
You must have strong communication and time management skills;
You must have a flexible schedule;
Ability to read patterns and follow assembly instructions are a plus;
Knowledge of fabric, fabric care, laundry, and skin care are a plus;
Experience hand sewing, using industrial and home sewing machines is a plus;
Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
Verification of the right to work in the United States for Blue Man Group, as demonstrated by completion of the Form I-9 upon hire and the submission of acceptable documentation (as noted on the Form I-9) verifying one’s identity and work authorization;
Able to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education, and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law;
