Position Summary

Reporting to the CFO, the Controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

The Controller provides direct supervision of Senior Staff Accountants and Accounting Manager, and any contract/temporary accounting labor.

What You’ll Be Doing

Management
  • Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
  • Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced, including accounting and other functions
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives
  • Implement operational best practices.
Reporting
  • Issue timely and complete financial statements for consolidated operations
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide for a system of management cost reports
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Review and direct the updated of production costing for various locations.
Treasury
  • Daily control of funds approval
  • Cash forecasting by entity
  • Ensure that accounts payable invoices are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.
Compliance
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Leadership
  • Responsible for talent acquisition/retention, employee development and performance management of Department personnel
  • Develop, coach and mentor existing team
  • Lead by example demonstrating high ethical standards, commitment and poise under pressure.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or similar discipline
  • 10 years of work experience utilizing the percentage of completion method of accounting in a manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced level competency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of global finance partnering with an executive team
  • Organization and strong time management skills coupled with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control and reporting
  • Proficient in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial policies and procedures
  • A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, change-based environment
  • An effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills and committed to developing team members
  • Ability to travel as necessary and work extended hours as job duties demand.

Preferred

  • MBA in Finance with Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Account designation
  • Familiarity with IFS ERP or similar integrated information systems.
