At Bay Photo, our reputation for quality and efficiency starts with the organization and care of our high volume of production materials, supplies, equipment, and people. We are seeking a Supervisor to support our Press Printed team for the late shift.

Summary of Position

The Press Printed Shift Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Press Printed Department. The Press Printed Supervisor executes the strategy for training development, safety, scheduling, workflow maintenance, priority orders, performance evaluations, communication, and time corrections. Supervises regular staff in the department including Leads and Technicians and facilitates overall optimal function of the department in meeting the goals of Bay Photo. Coordinates these efforts with the morning Press Printed Shift Supervisor where applicable.

Essential Responsibilities

• Meets daily with direct reports to communicate work priorities, policy changes, staff scheduling and assignments, special projects, and other issues, usually at the beginning of shift. Group meetings monthly for broad announcements and/or to solicit input.
• Work with the Production Manager to determine required competencies for staff.
• Determine adequate staff levels depending on work volume.
• Interview and select the most qualified candidates for each position.

• Facilitate on-boarding of new hires including training and establishing partnerships.
• Set and maintain employee schedules using Paylocity, including corrections and time off.
• Recognize and reward individual and team performance
• Collaborate with the Production Manager, Leads and HR to address and resolve performance issues and conflicts.
• Develop methods for evaluating processes including time tests, work area layouts.
• Develop workflow management procedures and daily assignments, to ensure efficient production and deadlines are met.
• Monitor and maintain supplies, determine appropriate ROP/Max for each item, and maintain neat and organized storage areas.
• Complete weekly supply sheet, report any defective or short materials.
• Use appropriate communication tools for conveying information to the lab, Floor Manager and direct reports. Completes daily shift summary report.

Other Duties

• Implement safety measures, including safety training and posted info, issuing PPE.
• Fully trained on the safe use and potential issues with Print Production machinery including Stack Cutters, Die Cutters, Binding Machines, Imprinting Machines, Rota Trims, Button Machines, Die Presses and Cutting tools.
• Fully trained on the safe use and potential issues with Print Production Printers, including Noritsu and Chromera operation, Chemicals, Darkroom and Photographic Papers.
• Monitor safe and appropriate use of machinery, report issues to Maintenance, recommend machinery changes.
• Maintains organized and clean work areas throughout the department.

Compensation 

• $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
