Summary

In this role, the powder coat painter will work in the paint department, painting and performing related finishing operations, according to our customer specifications.

Hours

2nd Shift: Monday- Thursday 2:30pm- 1am ($1.50 shift differential pay)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and understand part numbers and items on the work ticket.
  • Possess the desire to do the right thing for our customers.
  • Successfully complete a pulmonary function test.
  • Be able to follow directions to determine what color parts get painted.
  • Examines and feels surface for defects.
  • Starts grinder and moves it over surface to remove scratches, excess weld material and burrs.
  • Operates sandblasting machine to clean surfaces prior to painting or coating.
  • Coordinate the staging, sequencing and hanging of parts, production items and product components to be painted on an overhead conveyor system.
  • Ensure proper and effective operation of entire finishing system throughout the painting process. Report malfunctions and/or needed repairs to the appropriate party/source.
  • Coordinate and participate in the operation of the spray painting guns, equipment and related items in the appropriate/efficient manner, being sure to follow all safety and OSHA standards.
  • Coordinate and participate in the unloading of parts, items and product components. Stage same parts, items and product components for subsequent work areas.
  • Perform light maintenance on all equipment, machines or other devised used in the normal course of the work performed.
  • Monitor quality of own work and report to supervisor defective material, unusual conditions and operating difficulties. Keep required time and/or production records.
  • Maintain general work areas and/or equipment used in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow and adhere to prescribed safety regulations and procedures.
  • May assist in training of new or transferred employee.
  • Able to function within a fast-paced environment.

Competencies

  • Must have experience using hand tools and air tools.
  • Must be able to read tape measure, squares and other measuring tools.
  • Must be able to use pallet jacks, cranes and lift table to move parts from one station to another.
  • Have technical capacity to learn new processes as required.
  • Desire & ability to follow safety procedures.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Possess the desire to do the right thing for our customers.

Education and Experience

  • Experience in a powder coat painting operation preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to clearly articulate data and information between departments and to coworkers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.60 per hour
