Chrysalis Center Inc. is Hiring an Assistant Supervisor, Works Near Los Angeles, CA

Job Summary:

The Assistant Supervisor is in charge of providing a supporting role to the Supervisor in day-to-day operations at the respective contract-level. This position directs and works alongside the entry-level CE transitional clients in order for them to get acquainted with the worksite and their particular role and responsibilities. The Assistant Supervisor acts as a secondary point of contact for customer’s needs. This position does not require a driver's license. 

Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Ensure the customer’s needs are met according to the direction of the on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team with the highest level of customer service.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are being followed and met by assigned crew members in the field, and in the operation of tools and equipment.
  • Report any safety procedure issues observed in the operations of vehicles to the leading on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed).
  • Communicate with customers, employees, stakeholders, business owners, property owners, residents, pedestrians with tact and diplomacy.
  • Receive requests and complaints in a professional manner. Report these interactions to on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed). Carry out any approved responses in a timely manner.
  • Communicate all client and work-related issues to on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed) when applicable.
  • Consult with on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed) to ensure that all labor laws, regulations, and company policies are properly followed and enforced.
  • Supervise transitional employees on a daily basis to ensure that the scope of work is being executed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide hands-on training to transitional employees of their specific job duties, this includes providing briefings, hand-on demonstrations, shadowing, and delivering timely and applicable feedback.
  • Train (through regular briefings and side-by-side shadowning) employees on job duties, proper uniform, proper use of equipment, safety, and other pertinent areas for the assigned contract. 
  • Provide secondary validation and approval for transitional employee timesheets and timecards for payroll purposes.
  • Perform daily quality inspections on equipment as assigned and report any hazards or deficiencies immediately.
  • Report work incidents, work injuries, and vehicle accidents immediately to on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed) and provide written documentation for each accident.
  • Submit reports weekly to the assigned on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed).
  • Assist in maintaining office and office systems in an orderly and professional manner.
  • Assist in checking contract supply inventory regularly and make supply requests in a timely manner to the site Supervisor and/or management. 
  • Support the transitional jobs program and assist with the implementation of the program through regular professional feedback to transitional employees.
  • Act as a mentor to transitional employees by coaching and recognizing them on their performance with consistent evaluations.
  • Attend and participate in monthly meetings, one-on-ones and other training as assigned.
  • Proactively communicate schedule issues (including absences and tardiness) to on-site Supervisor, Contract Manager and/or Office Management team (as needed).
  • Adhere to and promote adherence to all Chrysalis Enterprises policies and procedures.
  • Support the Chrysalis Mission and Vision, and act consistent with our Values. 
  • Perform street maintenance as assigned, which may include, but are not limited to:
    1. Removing full liners & replace in trash receptacles
    2. Loading full trash bags into trash truck and/or dumpster
    3. Removing graffiti and stickers
    4. Reporting bulk items
    5. Sweeping and/or blowing leaves and other debris from sidewalks and gutters
    6. Basic landscaping (e.g., pulling weeds, trimming shrubbery)
    7. Maintaining equipment
    8. Disinfecting drinking fountains, handrails and other surfaces
    9. Stocking supplies as needed
    10. Providing outstanding customer service
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Successful work experience with CE.
  • Good leadership and communication skills and evidence of a strong work history.
  • A willingness and desire to mentor the client employee population and support the transitional jobs program.
  • Ability to pick up, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and work on their feet throughout the shift.
  • Demonstrated high levels of quality assurance and professionalism.
  • Ability and willingness to follow instructions and maintain timely communication with management.
