Position Summary The Lead Cabling Technician is responsible for leading cabling installation projects and fleet vehicle maintenance while delivering exceptional service.

- Lead and supervise a team of cabling technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of structured cabling systems, including voice, data, fiber optics, and wireless infrastructure.
- Manage and operate a company fleet service vehicle, ensuring it is properly maintained, stocked, and ready for deployment.
- Plan and coordinate cabling projects, including scheduling vehicle assignments and logistics.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of fleet vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Oversee inventory management for vehicle supplies and equipment.
- Train and mentor technicians on vehicle operation and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure project objectives are met efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, maintenance, and repairs.
- Keep accurate records of all service calls, including materials used, labor hours, and equipment history.
- Stay current on industry standards, codes, regulations, and emerging technologies related to cabling systems.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices at all times, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
- Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge, provide support, and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Complies with federal and state regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Completes assigned and required training for this role.

Work Environment The majority of work is completed outside at the construction site, or renovating occupied facilities such as hospitals, labs, nursing homes, etc. The position is often exposed to fumes or odors and sounds and loud noises, such as construction equipment. Protective equipment is required when on the construction site, including but not limited to hardhats, safety glasses, and high visibility clothing. Temperatures and conditions may vary depending on the weather and seasons.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to talk, hear, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, operate a computer, cell phone and telephone. Visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to occasionally lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds, frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds, and constantly lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds.
Expected Hours of Work Full time position. Extended hours and weekends may apply.
Travel Must have reliable transportation. Travel to and from the work site is required. Most of the travel will be local, but occasional long distance and overnight travel may be required depending on the project.
Required Education and Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Education and Experience - High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years or more of supervisory experience
- Relevant certifications or technical training
Additional Eligibility Qualifications - Experience operating and maintaining fleet vehicles.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in using cabling tools, equipment, and vehicle diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as TIA/EIA, BICSI, and NEC.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex cabling issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
