MASS TORT ATTORNEY SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Mass Tort Attorney will be responsible for all aspects of a mass tort claim, including client relations; mediations; arbitrations; motions; trials; and oral and written advocacy while interpreting laws, rules, and regulations for clients. As an Attorney, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of Mass Tort cases from inception to resolution. You will work closely with our team of Attorneys and legal professionals to provide exceptional legal services to our clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Management of all mass tort cases (10-15 different mass tort litigations, and bankruptcy)
  • Supervision and management of department support staff and/or paralegals
  • Collaborative work with the paralegals during the investigative stages of cases/claims
  • Monitoring SOLs
  • Overseeing completion of preliminary discovery (PFS, PPF, census forms, etc.)
  • Review and interpretation of medical records
  • Communicating with clients and calling them back within 24 hours
  • Communicating with co-counsel firms
  • Addressing all questions/requests about cases within 48 hours
  • Making filing decisions and overseeing/completing filing process
  • Monitoring filed dockets for new orders
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable court orders
  • Creating/reviewing reports on various mass tort campaigns
  • Providing regular updates on mass torts to rest of firm, including new/emerging mass torts to consider
  • Overseeing settlement programs when they arise
  • Daily activity reporting required
  • Oversight of legal files and inputting notes as cases are reviewed in the firm’s case management system (SmartAdvocate)
  • Responsible for monthly file reviews

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Is proficient in MS Office programs.
  • Legal research and writing experience
  • Attention to detail

  • Has the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Is able to problem solve without supervision or guidance.
  • Has a high level of professionalism.
  • Is able to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university
  • Active Virginia State Bar membership
  • Licensed to practice in federal court.
  • 7 years of experience in Mass Tort litigation
  • Must have Mass torts related experience including but not limited to product liability, pharmaceutical litigation, environmental disaster, product defect, and/or other similar complex litigation.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills, with a proven ability to delegate tasks appropriately
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload of complex cases
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

The work environment is characteristic of a standard office environment. Electrical hazards related to frequent contact with office equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
