About: Christ Community Health Services Augusta (CCH) is a rapidly growing, primary care health clinic and a community and faith-based 501 (c) (3) organization serving families in a ten-county region between Georgia and South Carolina.
As our patient population continues to grow throughout the greater Augusta area, we are in search of a caring and competent Accounting Clerk to join our team for a part-time/temporary position! Our four clinics (five, including dental) are strategically located in urban Augusta neighborhoods, providing local access to affordable care for patients who face medical, economic and transportation hardships. As a federally qualified health center and certified patient-centered medical home, we accept patients with no insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurance plans.

Position Overview:
The Accounting Clerk performs day-to-day tasks that support the proper accounting and reporting of health center activities, in accordance with all applicable laws, standards, and guidance. The primary focus of the Accounting Clerk will be accounts payable and related functions, though contributions to additional accounting department workflows (i.e. non-patient accounts receivable, grants management, cash receipts and treasury, etc.) will be expected upon the mastery of initially assigned A/P responsibilities.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Manages and reviews invoices received against supporting documentation and required approvals;
  • Identifies and resolves purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation;
  • Records invoices with correct amounts, accounts and cost centers;
  • Schedules/manages bank drafts, checks, and credit card charges to pay vendors accurately and on time
  • Verifies vendor and credit card accounts by reviewing and reconciling monthly statements and related transactions;
  • Contributes to cost containment efforts by monitoring discount opportunities and periodically assisting with RFPs;
  • Maintains and reconciles inventory, prepaid expense, and accrued expense accounts and associated records;
  • Maintains historical records through electronic and paper documents in accordance with applicable retention policies;
  • Performs other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Eager and able to embody the mission and vision of CCH;
  • Able and willing to demonstrate love, compassion, and genuine care when interacting with others;
  • Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting principles (controls);
  • Very high attention to detail and a desire for continual learning and improvement;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Able to prioritize work and to work independently to meet deadlines, while proactively engaging supervisor and co-workers when needed;
  • Strong overall computer skills, including some experience working within an electronic accounting software platform and basic experience with Microsoft Excel.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in Accounting preferred
  • At least 2 years of meaningful experience in accounts payable or general accounting;
  • Experience working in Blackbaud Financial Edge is a plus.
