Christ Church Missions Internship

Learning Objectives:

The Missions Intern will experience and develop familiarity with:

• The overall Christ Church Missions enterprise, including domestic and global mission partnerships and the Food Pantry ministry

• A volunteer-equipping/empowering model to achieve fruitful collaboration between church staff and lay leaders, particularly with regards to serve opportunities and missions events

• Christ Churchs multi-faceted ministry ecosystem and how various ministries integrate to achieve the churchs strategic objectives

• Multi-channel promotional strategies and how they dovetail with personal invitations to facilitate congregational engagement

Missions Intern Responsibilities:

The Missions Intern will focus her time and effort on key areas including, but not limited to:

• Mission Partner/Food Pantry Relationships

  • Shadow missions staff on visits to, or meetings with, mission partners and the Food Pantry team

  • Experience and become familiar with various components of the monthly Food Pantry rhythm

  • Assist in the launch of the Serve Our Schools initiative

  • Help facilitate various need-meeting drives, including food, clothing and school supplies

• For Chicagoland Serve Day

  • Assist with coordination of serve opportunities with mission partners, schools, community organizations and more

  • Contribute to Serve Day promotion, including social media, word-of-mouth invitation and other channels

• Mission Fest

  • Observe and contribute to Mission Fest planning

• Communications

  • Enhance missions web presence by executing website updates pertaining to global and domestic mission partners

  • Assist with Missions Monday social media posts and e-newsletter

• Advent Outreach Event and Giving Catalog

  • Assist in data collection pertaining to mission partner projects and partner descriptions

  • Participate in Advent Outreach Event planning

Documentation:

The Missions Intern will document experience via:

• Occasional missions ministry updates at Staff Break

• Weekly 15Five reports reviewed by Peter and/or Kelly) to document key learnings and insights and pose questions
