Earnings: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour based on education and experience

Group Leaders are vital to the success of COA programs. They work directly with our pre-teen’s - running activities, teaching life skills, and having fun! It can be a demanding job, but it will always be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. They will learn from you, but you will also learn from them.

The programs serve youth ages 5 to 12 Monday through Friday from approximately 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. This is a part-time (15-20 hours per week) position and is not eligible for benefits. Pre-hire fingerprint background check and references required. Program begins on September 5, 2023.

Main Job Responsibilities 

• Lead activities and groups; actively engage with youth at all times.
• Develop creative and innovative daily/weekly lessons plans. 
• Organize space and supplies. Maintain clean and safe program areas. 
• Accurately record activity attendance promptly at beginning of each activity. 
• Submit attendance daily to designated staff responsible for data. 

Qualifications 

• Must meet requirements for Lead Teacher per DCF 251. (Education Plan is optional.)
• Experience running a structured activity for youth/pre-teens.
• Must commit to getting a Registry certificate within 6 months, being trained on CPR/First Aid within 3 months, and submitting proof of a physical examination completed not more than 12 months prior to nor more than 30 days after hire.
• Must be computer literate: able to use Word to create, edit and format documents and flyers as well as Excel to enter in and manipulate data
• Flexibility to work in different program areas and age groups - is a team player
• Patience, positive attitude, and cultural competency
• The physical requirements for the positon are the ability to: sit, stand, and bend for long periods of time and actively engage with children in various activities (e.g., physical movement, dramatic play, on-the-floor play, etc.)
