The Children's Guild is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to provide occupational therapy services to children who demonstrate a functional inability to perform in an educational environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to screen, select appropriate assessment tools and evaluate the occupational performance of children in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrates ability to acquire information about students functional skills, roles, and context.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize needs and synthesize information obtained from the occupational profile for an effective treatment planning process.
  • Demonstrates ability to select effective treatment strategies that are developmentally appropriate and educationally relevant toward a long-term goal.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop, modify and execute treatment plans with consideration of best practices, and evidence-based and clinical reasoning.
  • Demonstrates ability to execute meaningful and effective treatment plans per student IEP.
  • Demonstrates ability to clearly and confidently articulate information and assessment results through written and oral reports that reflect the following criteria: specific, objective, organized, free from grammatical errors, readable for all and other non-professional readers and adheres to the policies and procedures of the organization, AOTA, and Maryland OT guidelines.
  • Maintains well-written documentation, including daily service trackers, quarterly progress reports, billing, and IEP documentation according to the policies and procedures of the school and Maryland OT guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to collaborate and consult with families and other professionals for identification of students current needs and prioritization of educationally relevant treatment goals.
  • Demonstrates ability to employ effective problem-solving strategies emphasizing individual self-direction and flexibility.
  • Proactively responds to environmental stressors, challenging student behaviors, and multiple demands of working in a school setting.
  • Adheres to all the identified policies and procedures related to compliance and safety guidelines.
  • Participates in planning and regularly reviews professional growth plans.

Qualifications


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Possession of a bachelors degree minimum or masters degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program
  • Certification from the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapists (NBCOT)
  • Possession of a current (or temporary) Maryland State license as an Occupational Therapist
  • Knowledge and experience in pediatrics and treatment preferred but not required
