Job Description

Position Summary:

The Training Specialist is responsible for coordinating and delivering comprehensive training programs to equip Youth Support Specialists with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that our Youth Support Specialists are prepared to provide exceptional care and support to the children and families served by Children's Square USA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Program Development: Collaborate with the Human Resources team, program directors, and subject matter experts to identify training needs and develop a robust training curriculum for Youth Support specialists.
  • Training Delivery: Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions for new and existing Youth Support specialists, covering topics such as trauma-informed care, behavior management, crisis intervention, cultural competence, and other relevant areas.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all training sessions are documented accurately, and training records are maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements and agency policies.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and gather feedback from participants to make necessary enhancements and improvements.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with best practices, research, and trends in the child welfare field to ensure training content reflects the latest insights and knowledge.
  • Onboarding Support: Collaborate with the HR team to support the onboarding process for new Youth Support Specialists, providing a comprehensive orientation to agency policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Field Trip Training: Develop training modules for field trips, ensuring Youth Support specialists are equipped to supervise and manage outings in a safe and organized manner.
  • Crisis Intervention Training: Facilitate crisis intervention training, equipping Youth Support Specialists with de-escalation techniques and strategies for managing crisis situations effectively.
  • Collaborative Partnerships: Foster collaborative relationships with program directors, supervisors, and team members to ensure alignment between training and program goals.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze training data and feedback to track progress and measure the impact of training programs on Youth Support Specialist performance and child outcomes.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience working with youth in a congruent care or shelter setting with 24/7 coverage.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology, education, or a related discipline, is preferred; a High School diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience required.
  • Proven experience in training development and facilitation, preferably in a child welfare or youth services setting.
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, behavior management techniques, crisis intervention strategies, and cultural competence principles.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate trainees.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in data analysis and using feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and creativity in developing training materials and methods.

Physical Requirements:

  • The Youth Support Specialist Training Specialist may be required to stand, sit, and move around during training sessions. The position may involve occasional lifting of training materials or equipment.
